The Human Journey

What’s in a name?  Why “The Human Journey?”

The answer is simple.  It’s because of you...and me.

It’s because we are all human, and being human is messy.  Being human means we are all on a journey and our journeys have commonalities.  From a psychological perspective, every human on the planet evolves and grows in the same way.  We start by learning how to master our basic needs (physical and emotional) and then, based on our level of success, we shift towards mastery of our growth needs (mental and spiritual).

These stages of development are common to us all.  But how we evolve through each stage is uniquely individual.

Our journeys are not limited to living our daily lives.  They’re also about self-discovery – about finding ourselves, who we are, who we aren’t, what we stand for, what’s important to us, how we show up, with whom we choose to surround ourselves, how we spend our time, what we eat, how we spend our money, how we make money, who or what we worship, how we care for our body and our mind, what we hold sacred, and what we want from life.

Have you thought about these aspects of your life?  Are you intentional about them?

Each of our journeys, needs a compass.  Core values are a great place to start.  Core values underpin our lives: relationships, life, goals, marriage, everything.  Mine are Impact, Achievement, Discovery and Acceptance, and they guide me.  When I feel lost, I turn to my values.  When I am living my best life, I’m aligned with one or more of my values.  In that way, values become a compass in my pocket.

My Core Values – my compass – led me to start The Human Journey.

Your values can lead you towards your best life, too.  And I can help you get there.  In fact, that is the essence of the The Human Journey: helping other humans navigate their path forward.

I believe my journey of self-discovery can serve many on theirs.  I know what it’s like to live life without purpose, absent clear values: emptiness, directionless, uncertainty, lack of caring.  And I know what it’s like to make conscious choices to be happy, acting with purpose, guided by core values.  Joy comes from this type of living - joy through purpose, through service to others, through living a life of integrity, which I define as living in alignment with your values.  Wherever you fall on that spectrum, I believe my journey can support yours.
